Yes! My local station used to just have touch points, and swapped them for gates…and now there is pretty much always a bit of a wait to get out (and often to get in). Pointlessly annoying, and I doubt it makes much difference to fare avoidance

I like @philpearl.bsky.social's idea: legislating that you only have to pay gambling co if you win. If you lose, you can rack up debt with gambling co, but you're not required to pay it back till some future win. Or never, if you don't bet again. Let gambling co decide how much credit you get
