Stumbled onto this on Reddit..I mean, these are good questions 🤣
Question on Reddit (from 1y ago, but I only just happened upon it): "What is CNCF, eBPF, Istio, and Cilium, and who is Liz Rice?"

New from @agreenberg.bsky.social and me: For three years, security researchers pointed a satellite at the sky and found highly sensitive data being sent unencrypted

They found: calls and texts on T-Mobile’s network; military info from the US and Mexico; in-flight Wi-Fi browsing, and a lot more
Satellites Are Leaking the World’s Secrets: Calls, Texts, Military and Corporate Data
With just $800 in basic equipment, researchers found a stunning variety of data—including thousands of T-Mobile users’ calls and texts and even US military communications—sent by satellites unencrypte...

Yes! I’m making progress in Spanish, and I learnt a tiny bit of Japanese last year too. I’m using Duolingo, which has its flaws but it has got better and better, and I’m a firm believer that a tiny bit of practice every day really makes a difference

Dutch courts fighting to make Facebook and Instagram useable again.
ramshajahangir.bsky.social
Last week, a Dutch court ordered Meta to give Facebook & Instagram users the right to set a chronological feed by default - one of the first EU cases applying the DSA in civil proceedings.

To unpack what this means, I spoke with @bitsoffreedom.bsky.social:

There are reasons to use a VPN but “people are going to hack into your bank account if you use public WiFi” is only one of them if your bank doesn’t use TLS & certs - in which case, change your bank!

The @nordvpn.bsky.social ads on @therestpolitics.bsky.social are sometimes misleading on this

Having a rather amusing conversation after I pushed back on the advice that using public wifi without a VPN will get you hacked. I bet someone $10k that I could log into my bank account via their wifi network and they couldn't even tell me my username. This guy is telling me he'd "use Pegasus" 1/3

I can't imagine who wouldn't want their daily needs within walking distance, and yet some people think the 15-minute city is some fresh kind of hell 🤷‍♀️

Looks like some Linux eBPF vulnerabilities presented at this year's Black Hat are made-up AI slop

Doesn’t posting there make people who are still there think that it’s more balanced than it really is?

You could post here, and post links to those posts on X, for a while to make it clear that’s not your primary platform?

Agreed - through @openuk.bsky.social I’ve met a few MPs and they have all been smart. Obvs they can’t all be super-well informed on all topics but they have generally been open to hearing from specialists. Figuring out which experts to trust must be one of the most difficult bits of the job

I am 💯 in agreement

It would not be too much to ask for @microsoft.com Outlook Outlook to let you know that the other person/people declined, rather than just reminding you about it as if it were going ahead. Google calendar handles this way better
