This was my take:
After sleeping on it, I am now less angry and critical of the Dems who voted yes.
Why?
Because they know the GOP is not going to vote to continue ACA benefits. Not now, not ever.
So they didn't give up anything they were maybe somehow going to get.

It isn't the strategy I wanted. I think Republicans would have, in fact, eventually caved (by killing the filibuster). But here we are.

I'm mad about the shut down and worried about healthcare, but not letting people starve is a pretty good reason to cave on this bureaucratic fight, the more I think about it. So just say that: Republicans wanted you to starve rather than compromise, so we let this one go.

Yes! In the truest sense, SNAP is really corporate welfare. As you said, it enables corporations to pay a sub-living wage, keeping many hard working Americans in poverty while they rake in huge profits.
