The 3 branches of government are not equal. Congress makes the laws, sometimes overriding a veto. The Senate confirms most appointments. Congress can impeach and remove anyone in the other 2 branches. Congress decides who gets taxed and for how much. It decides how money is spent.

My ELCA congregation went 3 years without a pastor. We had Presbyterian, UMC, and Episcopal clergy lead some of our services until we called a UCC pastor. It was great having all of them and great that they could do it.

I was raised Presbyterian, but became a Lutheran. I didn't like liturgical services at first, but now I prefer it. Try an ELCA Lutheran church if you have a chance.

Can't read the story to see if anything has changed, but that was done in November and quickly rescinded.

The change came on the same day media outlets discovered that the Coast Guard had unveiled a policy calling the same symbols "potentially divisive."

Did I miss something? Why are you and WP reporting on something that happened in November that was quickly rescinded?

I'm in a deep red state and his views don't leam far enough left for me. I know that a lot of people here agree with me.

Perhaps we should require data centers to generate their own electricity with Small Modular Reactors.

My wife made some beeswax wraps and bread bags recently. She's using one to wrap cheese. It seems to be working well.

in effect. It seems to have simply been working off of some keywords without putting them into the context of the question. AI is for lazy people and people who don't know how to find the correct information sources.

Google's AI answered the question outlining the requirements in the repealed law. I told the AI that the requirements it cited have been repealed. It responded by pointing me to some entries on the Oklahoma Department of Insurance web site that did not confirm that the requirements are still

My colleague didn't accept that so he asked Google. Google provided a link to a website that referred to a statute with the requirement we were discussing. Now the statute citation I was able to look up the law and saw that it had been repealed.

The Coast Guard boards boats, confiscated the drugs, and takes the drug runners into custody every day. They've found that only 80% of the boats they stop carry drugs.

So now we're into piracy?

I first heard about this belief about 30 years ago. It's based on not really understanding what the Bible is really saying.

The world's 110 million Lutherans would say that Bonhoeffer was a Christian.

He did participate in the plot to assassinate Hitler. That's why he was killed by the Nazis. He struggled with his decision. He decided it would be a greater sin to let Hitler kill millions than it would be to kill one man to protect others.

Just finished a study of what Martin Luther wrote about the 10 Commandments in his Small Catechism. Based on what he wrote, most Repubs break all of them.

Yes, makes me think he's wrong.
