You shared that androidx libraries are constantly in alphas and we listened. In the past two years while adding a ton of new libraries we actually increased the percentage of libraries that are complete or actively developed.
The combo of these two groups went from 64% to 76%.

Switching from one test method to another when running Android tests from IDE today invalidates configuration cache, that sucks!

When using Gradle 9.1+ and the next AGP you will start getting CC hits!

issuetracker.google.com/issues/44522...

Thanks to Gradle and AGP folks for making this work!

A fun talk on handling fun Unicode bugs in your app by @vladimirj.dev

One of my first bugs in Chrome was due to Turkish letters "i" and "ı" that need special handling when changing to upper vs to lower case.

To improve AndroidX release binary transparency we have made all of our release branches visible to the world.

E.g. collections: ci.android.com/builds/branc...

What that means is now you can go from a released version of a library to an exact buildId and the source tree state for that release.

It is wild to see that AndroidX repository has 2.6M lines of Kotlin code and 1.1M of Java. Just 4 years ago it was 1:1 and 4 more years before that was ~0 of Kotlin.

It is awesome to see similar growth of Kotlin out there in the Android ecosystem.

Found this website that lets you visualize energy sources and flows between various countries.

Awesome to see Lithuania is doing really well with renewables transition!

And what a time it was! So many experiences and fun projects together. You pushed me and the whole team around you making Android better as a result. Amazing legacy!

P.S. never bet against Yigit, I told him google would never adopt Kotlin exactly a year before we announced official support 🤦🏻

There is something really satisfying when you are able to continue using a gadget for 10 years and there is not really a good reason to replace it. Garmin Edge 1000 has been there for me through rain and shine.

The only other gadget that has been in use for as long is my Canon 6D DSLR.

If you need motivation:

These checks caught that Android Gradle Plugin was accidentally exposing an internal type through `android {}` accessor in build.gradle.kts. The bug slipped in through a very non-obvious change (see screenshot) over a year ago.

I enjoy Duolingo, but they really gotta stop changing the icons. It is really annoying making it hard to find it in the app drawer.

Uber just opted you into using them internationally for currency conversion with an exorbitant 1.5% conversion fee.

Settings > Wallet > Preferred currency to pick no preferred currency, so you get charged in local currency and your bank/credit card does the conversion at a much better rate.

There is now a way to create a custom Chrome search engine to search Gradle javadocs

- chrome://settings/searchEngines
- Add site type
- For URL use docs.gradle.org/nightly/java...

Added to nightly in github.com/gradle/gradl...

Someone at United clearly thought that (0, 0) was a safe default for coordinates. It puts one end of the travel end at those coordinates when the plane lands. Oops!

It's nice sometimes to just walk around while looking up and observe the patterns out there.
