A10) Kentucky's Red River Gorge National Geological Area in the Daniel Boone NF hooked me as a kid. Though I don't live close anymore, it still holds up as a classic Appalachian outdoor paradise (and fwiw I didn't take this picture, but it's too good not to share) #parkchat

A9) The Harvest Scene is pretty high up on the list!

The real answer though, I think, is the rare moment where the exertion it took to reach somewhere remote is rewarded with something equally as unique - a sunset, alpenglow, or even the perfect flat rock on which to catch your breath. #parkchat

A7) The persistence of the same skies each night over a weeklong backpacking trip through Grand Canyon. Big Dipper over one shoulder every night - same time, same place - and Orion over the other. Like your favorite show on the same time each night. #parkchat

A5) Reaching the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and realizing you've got almost 5,000 feet of up to go to get back out 5 days later makes one feel so tiny, so insignificant that it's hard to describe. #parkchat

A2) It's Grand Staircase-Escalante for me. Nothing replicates the ability to see horizon drop both down thousands of feet into canyon depths and rise straight up as the Henrys, the La Sals. Where it snows, it melts, it runs, it carves, all in one view. #parkchat

A1) It's the scale, for me. Lots of places have 'big' things, but in canyon country you get incredible scale of things both gigantic and tiny in vast views in ways you simply can't replicate elsewhere. #parkchat

they put this dude in a rocket belt, made him carry radioactive pocket lint, built him a goddamm crocodile suit submarine, and hid him a jet plane behind a fake horse's ass in a trailer.

just make something up.

A3) Dinosaur National Monument! It’s way out there in the middle of nowhere, alright. #parkchat

A2) it’s Canyonlands for me. So much of it is inaccessible by car so people never get to see its depth unless they get out there on foot! #parkchat
