Saturday afternoon & it's weirdly quiet in A&E
An almost empty A&E waiting room with laminate flooring & a double row of purple chairs. At the far end there are 2 vending machines with conspicuously unhealthy snacks. A screen is showing a rotating collection of useful information like the benefits of giving up smoking, exhortations not to abuse staff and how to tell the different grades of staff

Update:
Michael still in hospital but has discussed everything with doctors & we have a, sort of, plan. May be home later today. They will send him in an ambulance (phew)
I'm currently in Costa with a cappuccino having shopped for what I think is a decent selection of meals

This is interesting. When E was a baby we were told we should limit her exposure to allergens for the first year, no flowers in the house etc. I thought it was odd at the time

Scientists think one of the reasons so many people now have allergies is because they were not exposed to microbes that occur naturally in the environment at a young age. The “old friends” hypothesis says humans evolved alongside microbes in air, plants and soil. The body can exchange useful microbes (bacteria and fungi, for example) with the natural world to stay healthy.

There were no education events at Reform conference. Their only policies appear to be giving private schools their tax breaks back and changing the history curriculum to trumpet the benefits of empire.

Similarly "Persuasive writing" is taught in primary schools my teaching kids the what are essentially tricks used in adverts etc. I'm not sure to what extent kids are taught to watch out for & distrust these
