My career began in electronics & now it's in IT. I talk nonsense here about my hobby stuff: Electronics, STEM, IoT, Meshtastic, Vintage 8-bit computers. My dog is called Holly & she's much cuter than me | West Sussex, UK | Views are my own humble opinions.

Just checking that the MeshBop #Meshtastic messaging app coped with the UK time change. Yes, I must put the prototype node into the case I have for it.

I find the whole thing utterly thickening.

This cheap USB tester started to read 4.29A all the time. Anyone seen this - is it a known issue - and fixed it? Apart from doing a visual around the current sensing resistor & chip and a PCB clean I've not dived deeper yet because it's likely not worth the time, but am happy to have thoughts. Ta.

Just testing some (not yet released) newsyness goodness on MeshBop for #Meshtastic.

My 'weekend project' visual, extensible message trigger / response app for #Meshtastic, written in Node-RED, has just had a major rewrite.

I've also thrown in a Sea state / tidal report and severe weather warnings.

Meshbop V0.11 Beta for #Meshtastic is coming soon. Lots of code tidying, some new triggers and even easier setup on Node-RED. Here's some lovely screenshots.

It's tiiiiiny. Going to try using it with async out to a Heltec V3 #Meshtastic node as my permanent MeshBop node.

I know the North of the UK has had it worse, but my MeshBop #Meshtastic app has been broadcasting messages, based on a Met Office feed, every hour, for the South too. Good job little Raspberry Pi. Stay safe everyone.

Maybe I could cope with a mid-range CRSlO.

Fixed an iPhone / watch charge pad for my better half today. The usual...a USB-C port with solder cracks on the fixing tabs, causing the PCB connections to flex and break. Tabs fixed, then some drag soldering with a fine tip, followed by a tidy with some flux and braid on the joints did the trick.

This "Cover Opening TOOL" turned up on my desk. I have no idea what it's for (apart from 'covers'!?). It seems to be made from fibreglass, like a thick piece of PCB material. Micro SD card for scale. Ideas ANYONE!?

Rescued from a lab chuckout.

Gotta be a bot or fake account?

The robotic-like replies are too (uselessly) responsive compared to the actual company.

Seems I'm a marked man.

Although I am keeping my dual boot Win10 / Linux Mint setup, I barely use Windows so I am shrinking its world and giving the space to Linux. The GParted operation was a move of the Windows recovery partition then a Win shrink + Linux grow & move using a Live USB stick. All worked - phew!
