My career began in electronics & now it's in IT. I talk nonsense here about my hobby stuff: Electronics, STEM, IoT, Meshtastic, Vintage 8-bit computers. My dog is called Holly & she's much cuter than me | West Sussex, UK | Views are my own humble opinions.
A delivery van was hijacked today and a consignment of stationery items stolen, including a significant number of boxes of protractors.

Police are considering all angles.

Today I have to cost up a hosting platform for a few different Web sites (mostly Joomla-based). I see a little Hetzner in my life.

Any other suggestions?

So while we're busy stuffing "AI" (or tech incorrectly labelled as such) into everything because it helps with productivity and allegedly means fewer workers (who pay taxes into the economy)...

Reuters: "UK faces bigger than expected cut to productivity forecast, sources say".

Our office broadband comes into the building through here.

Don't breathe too hard.

Can anyone explain to me why, apart from sheer laziness and a total disregard for information security best practice, I would install a password manager on my computer AND have it auto fill TOTP passcodes? Did the designers not cop on to the proper definition of 'multi factor'? 🙃

It's dawned on me: I get more emails from computer systems & things (Logwatch, system reports, backups, monitoring, washing machine, front door, central heating...) than real people.

This means something.

Maybe I just need an AI to email me every now & then to say "Hey, I got this..go get a life."

If you like books, 2nd-hand / antique / random books & are visiting the Lake District or Cumbria I strongly suggest adding in a detour to Michael Moon's Bookshop in Whitehaven - as it has over a mile of shelves with books on & piles of books AND is run by lovely people!

Reposts Appreciated!

Azure and AWS having the wobbles, I hear.

Someone elsewhere referred to 'Outage as a Service'.

I'm going to borrow that.

Just checking that the MeshBop #Meshtastic messaging app coped with the UK time change. Yes, I must put the prototype node into the case I have for it.

I find the whole thing utterly thickening.

A while ago I cut my finger badly while fixing a connector problem at the back of a TV. It's all healed now, but the SCART issue left me with scar tissue.

I keep trying to tell people about #FujiNet.
That it is a WiFi adapter for your favorite #Atari8bit, #Apple2, #ColecoAdam, #TRS80CoCo, #Commodore, #Atari2600, #AtariLynx, and #MSDOS machines, with more to come.

But word isn't getting out.

Can u help?

This cheap USB tester started to read 4.29A all the time. Anyone seen this - is it a known issue - and fixed it? Apart from doing a visual around the current sensing resistor & chip and a PCB clean I've not dived deeper yet because it's likely not worth the time, but am happy to have thoughts. Ta.

Why do people with a twinkle in their eyes seem to tell the funniest jokes?

Because they're cornea.

My 'weekend project' visual, extensible message trigger / response app for #Meshtastic, written in Node-RED, has just had a major rewrite.

I've also thrown in a Sea state / tidal report and severe weather warnings.

Did you hear about the work-from-home microelectronics engineer who had great difficulty getting any of their prototypes to work reliably?

They lived in a static caravan.

Meshbop V0.11 Beta for #Meshtastic is coming soon. Lots of code tidying, some new triggers and even easier setup on Node-RED. Here's some lovely screenshots.

It's tiiiiiny. Going to try using it with async out to a Heltec V3 #Meshtastic node as my permanent MeshBop node.

I know the North of the UK has had it worse, but my MeshBop #Meshtastic app has been broadcasting messages, based on a Met Office feed, every hour, for the South too. Good job little Raspberry Pi. Stay safe everyone.
