being easier to find once we finally realize
we do not have forever to find it

In this email from Gov Whitmer, it says 23,000 lane miles have fixed in the past 5 years. That maths out to be 9% of Michigan lane miles (256,579). $33B spent in the last 5 years for roads. By that math, MI needs $333B to fix the other 91%. Tell me how transit costs too much?

In times like these I’m reminded to look for the helpers.
The Orange treason weasel can not declare the climate crisis away with his calls to bring water from Canada, kill windmills, leave the Paris Accord, etc.

But the next four years will be bumpy.

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance.

Contrast that with all these other powerful people in this country signaling nothing but appeasement and obedience.
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Happy 2025, friends.

May it be a year of health, of safety, of righteous actions, of hope, of inspiration, of solidarity, of connection, of reaching out, of bringing in, of love, of laughter, of bounty, of sharing, of creativity, of showing up, of doing just, of unmitigated joy. ❤️ 🌱

"Public investment" vs "Wasteful Subsidy." The only problem with this clever Singer cartoon is that some people might actually not get that it’s sarcastically illustrating the perception problem, NOT telling the truth. Just in case it actually needs to be said, the truth is the opposite.

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

Two things are true:

1) The great man theory of history is hot garbage. There is no special magic boy who will fix or ruin everything For everyone else

2) You are irreplaceable. No one else can do the things you do the way you do them. You matter. The world would not be the same without you.

Tangible and helpful ways to support progress in Michigan; thanks @amyhemmeter.bsky.social
If you're a constituent in Michigan and you support any of these goals, here's a thread of 30-second actions you can take to let your reps know! Bonus points if you share with friends and family and reskeet (?) them - doing ALL of these should take less than 5 minutes! 🧵
I know there are so many things to account for in a Trump presidency but it's really really important that Michigan Democrats protect the climate in lame duck by passing community solar, polluter pay, the e-bike incentive and TRANSIT FUNDING.

Living somewhere where I never have to use or rely on a car, a walkable city

Not rural views
Not mountain views
Not ocean views
