Public librarian. Boring mom of extremely cute kid. Cat enthusiast.
Don't be afraid to put on your resume what is recent and relevant. I hired a library assistant whose job experience included working in an escape room because I thought it showed they would be good working with people. Lastly just keep applying it's ROUGH out there!!

Find out where jobs that you would like advertise. City of Santa Fe for example does not advertise their jobs on any job boards you have to go to their website. Also many city jobs are VERY picky about how your application is so contact HR to ensure that your application is filled out correctly.

The book doesn’t even say gay! I have to make this book gayer when I read to my son by saying the penguins are gay 🌈 most lgbtq kids books are honestly not gay enough.

I’m so sorry. We’ve had 3 lockdowns in as many weeks over here. It’s not a good feeling.

To counter it seeming like book banning is a thing of 1984 we are doing our display of books that have banned this year. Focusing on LGBT books. I'm making red book marks that we'll put in other books in the stacks that say "this book was banned in 2025 in at least one county in the United States."

I’ve actually been seeing this a lot lately as well as incorrect bibliographic info. Worse from chat got bit also from google ai search results. Patrons are confused. They don’t understand it could be wrong.

I'm a selector for my library and just ordered it from our vendor! Just a note to any other librarians that see this it IS available from Baker and Taylor and is in stock now. Get it while it's hot.

Wow huge yikes. I'm way out of the ALA circle. I've never been a member and favor smaller library orgs that are more directly relevant to me. Thanks for taking the time to share.

All the ID stuff is so messed up. I’ve gotten a lot of trouble because my US PASSPORT says I was born in Japan, because I was, and I’m white. I can’t imagine what people who are not white and not us born go through.

I'm sending out healing vibes to your little nougat. My little guy got covid at around 8 weeks and he was so miserable it was tough to not be able to help him feel better.

I've been a librarian since 2018 and had parapro experience before that. I make 6 dollars an hour more than I made after graduating high school.
