I often talk publicly about the damage I feel professional game criticism and critique has done to the gaming landscape.
Not because I think it is all bad, but because the bad ones are the ones that are remembered and influential.

To wit: 4Kids dubs are literally what helped bring the medium to a broader American market, when the mainstream adult world wasn’t (and STILL ISN’T) willing to treat anime as anything other than toddler fodder.
It’s easy to poke fun now, but the industry blossomed in part BECAUSE of their ambition.

That feeling when, as a writer, you spend all of last night and this morning trying to figure out what the heck the word you need in this sentence is, and you finally get it and it's something stupidly simple like "sloped." >_<
