11/2024 update: working on it but I'm still not sure I'm really here yet because I can only take so much social media checking and I'm lazy. Still easier to find me on Mastodon at the moment: @[email protected]
"But it past spell check!"

But only $1 for the next 8 months for new subscribers!!

Also - by taking the #bikeDC trail down to lot 8 from Independence - nobody even checked that I had a ticket for "entry" to this sold out event. (TBF I *did* have a ticket and even arrived during my designated 15 minute window, but still...good to know for future events...)

It's not nearly as efficient for me as when I could just go on a Saturday to Fort Totten, but still - an hour door-to-door really isn't too shabby.

Sociotropic is a great euphemism for a type of sociopathy!

Wait - I thought the President just said that DC is the safest city ever and there's been no violence since he stepped in to help? I'm so confused.

I'm still irrationally annoyed with his response to the stupid pizza "controversy" last year where he suggested people go to other places and just happened to tout Thompson Hospitality (a donor) establishments over better options in his own neighborhood...

Maybe we're the ones missing out.

I mean - I was pretty excited about the one opening on Monroe just because it'd been 13 years since when trying to sell us on our home purchase the developer had "promised but not promised" that a grocery store would be moving in there "very soon"...but I'm also not a blogger/rumor reposter...

If it's intentional (part of the effort to slow down trail traffic) then they need to add some markings and signage. And if it's not intentional...oof.

If they're willing to provide the newer battery at a discount (as they said they offered to the CSPC) that might be worthwhile for you, provided your bike doesn't also have all of the weird proprietary parts.

Yeah... with the next phase the bulk of the MBT concept published in 1999 will actually exist. Which is great, but also quite a long time...
November 24, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Not quite, at least for the near term. While the upcoming project installs PBLs to get from Blair/Whittier, due to the jurisdictional complications (NPS), the MBT is on street between Riggs and Blair, using 1st NE and McDonald Place.

The OCF Fair Elections Program shows 7 candidates so far.

My corollary to that is "Reliable/timely >>> free."

Times like these REALLY make me miss those old Stationmasters maps...
November 21, 2025 at 12:37 AM
Couldn't find one either, but the new entrance is on the Capital One Hall side of the Metro station (see the blue asterisk). Now, instead of having to exit the Metro station on 123 and walk alongside the busy road before looping up to that development, you can exit on that side and be closer.

I prefer their Edmund Fitzgerald...

Yeah - there's a certain alleged coleslaw afficionado who frequently brings up that one cursed IIHS study that could be twisted to support that claim.

Granted, though his name shows up on it, the website doesn't adequately recreate the experience of seeing Greg in person.

I think August was a letter update posted on the project website (not a meeting). But the project website also has the design shared at that time for the protected lanes between Longfellow and Chillum. bikelanes.ddot.dc.gov/pages/e00ff9...
Kansas Ave NW
From Longfellow Street NW to Chillum Place NW
