Playing Ocarina of Time from the start again. I remember specifically as a kid thinking how amazing it was that when you slice the wooden signs they slice at the place you hit them (kinda).

Crazy how needless little touches can help with the feeling of quality and immersion.

Cleaning up old N64 cartridges. This is Super Mario 64!

Just got it working!

Quite therapeutic to do this on my old games.

If you want to gain a better self critical eye & improve your development, choose a study subject (e.g. 'portraits'), paint 5 examples then put the images on a wall side by side.

See which areas are looking good & which need more work, then you should find areas to work on & strengths.

This movie is an extremely important, but harrowing watch.

Especially poignant in current times.

Currently on Prime in the UK.

First evening testing it out. Some thoughts/advice:

Don't rely on the stock SD, have backup prepped.
Expect games to not work. They are old. The foam cleaners do a good job. IPA on a Q-tip if not.
OG controllers might not be great for precise stuff now.
Have fun!

It arrived! Just waiting on a power adapter I can use in the UK. One of the newer controllers arrives tomorrow (I have a few original controllers kicking around but not sure how the sticks are going to hold up).

For others in the UK, customs was an additional 50ish after posting.

This time last year, my partner's dad had a stroke which has left him without much use of an arm and leg.

It changed our lives which were already changing due to the industry.

We're still taking every day as it comes, but she has been incredible and so supportive towards him. I am always in awe.

This is a doc I wrote featuring tips and tricks for how to make a better art portfolio site. Feel free to share with anyone who may find this useful <3 #art

Got gifted a game by a friend; Shape of Dreams.

Great fun co-op hack and slash.

Think Marvel Ultimate Alliance or a budget co-op Hades.

Fun game loop. Lots on screen at once. Good with a controller.

Worth a look! #games

Art vs artist thing for this year. Got a scanner recently so still scanning bits of older stuff, but this is all from this year.

It's been a tough year for us, so I've just been putting focus on work (teaching). Changing industry isn't easy, but happy to have done it.

Ok I'm trying new masking tape that is apparently low tack.

I've had no joy moving to watercolour and this painting when the masking tape tears the paper this much. I don't have this issue with acrylic so a bit of a learning curve.

Still fun to paint though!

Building more story within landscapes. I really enjoy doing this.

I still enjoy using environment tools even if I don't do it much any more.

This one kinda broke a bit on the left when upscaling to 4k. Need to jump back into the nodes.

Heightfield created in Gaea 2.

Reading this again (for the first time in ages). It's like coming back to an old friend that's always been there.

Love it. Still so charming.

This year I bought and used watercolours for the first time (to try and get out of the mindset of wasting paint).

Nice little travel kit to paint here or there in between a busy schedule.

Here's a little robin I painted yesterday.

Great fun!

Gonna sound a bit grinchy here, but boy racers trying to race along the streets on Xmas day and burning rubber at junctions. All I can imagine is a family trying to get home on the road or pavement and immediately at risk by spoiled brats.

Should be a hefty suspension or ban.

This isn't AI btw. Its all based on essentially noises and erosion simulations. A 3D representation of 2D data (heightfields or Digital Elevation Maps).

It makes fun art pieces (when not making distant mountains for VFX).

This isn't the HF for the pic but an example I did a while back.
