i'm doing portraits from reference for my dailies but im trying a New Process and man it's whipping my ass in a huge way. one of my fav things about my own work from my anim days is how FAST i was ... but only w/ gesture. it's such a slog for me to finish an illustration. trying to fix that

i'm about halfway through this new defunctland video and i'm about to start recommending it to every narrative designer i work, as so far i feel like i've watched an incredibly in-depth case study on narrative design techniques and principles, as well as the constaints of working within corporate IP

if you would like to Get Good at turkey then pls allow me to share my Old Reliable method as a starter:
- dry brine in salt (literally salt the bird leave it uncovered in the fridge 2-3 days)
- compound butter on and UNDER the skin
- spatchcock (remove the spine to flatten) for an even bake

my contribution to the turkey discourse: many people are not good at cooking a whole turkey and if that is you you do not have to do so! you have many other options in both protein and method! but let the people who CAN make it a very good dish do so in peace thanks

the thing that made secret of NIMH formative for me design-wise wasn't just the designs themselves but the way in which the story and the animation SOLD those designs. you don't give jenner a giant cape without letting him swoosh it dramatically!
