It's time for one of my favourite activities of the year, decorating the house for the festive season. This is what greets me on opening one of the two boxes, reassuring information and a reminder which will reduce bad language and frustration. The slightly obscured word is 'pipes'.

Dinner of butter beans, slow cooked tomatoes and red pepper, green and yellow courgettes fried with garlic, thyme, chilli and lemon zest. Chopped parsley sprinkle. Not bad for a caravan kitchen! Yes, I brought my own knives. And Microplane zester. And silicon spatula.

I haven't bought any fiction in a long time, but I bought The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami earlier in the week. This is the first of his books I've read, and yes, I know I'm very late to this particular party. Thanks to @john-self.bsky.social for suggesting this as a place to start.
