Well no, I do think the "but the Price of Eggs!" things was real, aka people were mad that prices didn't immediately return to pre-COVID rates, it's just that it's one of those things that sounds ridiculous that people didn't believe it, that it had to have been bigotry.

honestly should've read "Tell HBO. Elmo wants them to know it was Elmo!"

WTF why is this post blowing up of all things.

(And for the record: mergers are bad. They've always been bad. I'd have preferred if there was none at all.)

I feel like with the direction of the franchise via Romulus and Earth, the Prometheus 2 ship has long since sailed.

It’s not the best solution at all, but given Google/YT has been making noises about blocking ad-blockers, I ended up caving to just get YT Premium to get rid of ads and just not deal with them.

“Chairman Hampton”? Well that’s interesting that you invoke a title for a guy that’s not around anymore. All while denying my claim around online white leftists being stuck in the mental framing of conservative Christianity, which prioritizes deferring to authoritative figures? Fascinating.

Nvm that if we take argument at face value, there’s nuance on when ambiguous endings are executed well or not.

I’m not sure why Fred Hampton is relevant to my posts over online white leftists. Considering that 1.) he’s not white and 2.) the internet wasn’t even a thing while he was alive.

Well finger-wagging on “confidently wrong assessments” is rich coming from you.

TBF, “Izanami” is also a Japanese name…but scanning their profile, I strongly suspect they’re not actually Japanese.

So, weeb.

They thought they left the house of conservative Christianity, that they moved into a different house of more compassionate , non-Christian leftist values.

Except they never left. They're still living in it: all they did was switch out the furniture for more left-coded, non-Christian coded ones.

Like the idea of dogmatic tenets and beliefs, you believe in absolutely, without questioning any of it, or consider flexibility in different situations. But now they're applying that approach to leftist tenets and public figures (idly wondering that's the other way parasocial bonds are a Problem)

It's my belief that a lot of online American leftists, particularly the white ones, came from super-conservative Christian families and communities. That they got radicalized to the left when they realized how awful they were. But they didn't do enough to de-Christianize themselves after they left.

Which is an actual thing, that I only recently found out about, "secular religion".

And take a look at the examples! Notice how there's some...very familiar looking belief systems?

More that I think people really really don't understand, don't want to talk about maladaptive responses to trauma, if we regard the COVID pandemic and lockdowns as a mass trauma event.

That and people getting pissed at Biden because they thought he was gaslighting him when he said "inflation has gone down" and thought he meant "prices have gone down" when they hadn't...even though that's not what "inflation has gone down" means.
