seniority based. If so, there are protections built into the positions themselves, making firing of bad trainers nearly impossible. Dealing with a union contract and negotiations as Dems will be extremely fraught, especially politically.

Abolishment and reassignment would likely be easier.

The reason I keep pushing this is that it's obvious neither of you have dealt with unions, or are explicitly ignoring how that will impact "training and firing."

If training positions are not based on merit (for whatever the term merit exhibits at ICE) then they are extremely likely to be...

So, I think the NYTs is better for him having left, but it's still an indictment he was ever hired there.

If a "uniformly excellent and highly disciplined" trainer in the field cannot evaluate the situation, places himself in danger, reacts badly before shooting someone, and then even worse after, I think your assessment of them is not worth the pixels you used to post it.

You seem to be arguing the organization is even worse than I am because not only did it promote someone who would fail to properly train but would then not demote or neutralize him.

Seems like an even worse system unable to change through training alone.

Considering he's been with ICE for a decade and is himself a trainer, I think the rot runs much deeper.

You don't get promoted to trainer if you are undisciplined and easily overtaken by rage unless that's a behavior and characteristics you want.

The complaints I hear from Dems and liberals in Florida are mostly along the lines of the party leaders there tripping over their own feet for so long that they've demoralized everyone.

Top that off with all the conservative East Coast boomers moving there to retire and maybe they're right to stop

And I'm sure that is just ignored.

Platner has had many opportunities to spin his problems into plusses and screwed them up every time.

Right? First time in almost 40 years we have a killer shot at taking this away from Collins and it's like a clown show.
