#Keeper - An artsy Folk-Horror film that's also a slow burn and includes mild elements of surrealism? Yeah, no wonder normies dislike it. Not sure why people have such a hate boner for Osgood Perkins, but I really liked it.

#TheRunningMan - Would have preferred a different tonal take on the material (full cynical Carpenter or full satirical Verhoeven...or even the "Escape from LA" route), but it's a fun time at the movies. 87 version still better. Oh, and the ending is ASS.

A ★★★ review of The Running Man (2025)
Edgar Wright always seemed like an odd choice to do a more faithful adaptation of Stephen King's novella "The Running Man" considering Wright was mostly known for his comedic work. Sure, "Last Night i...

#PredatorBadlands - Why did they make a film that apes every trend in mainstream studio entertainment which has polluted multiplexes and lowered the bar for what normies expect out of the movies? We deserve better! Don't settle!

My review: letterboxd.com/leninhawk/fi...
A ★★ review of Predator: Badlands (2025)
I'm not disappointed that "Predator: Badlands" is PG-13, nor am I disappointed that it went in a new direction for a Predator story. No, what I am disappointed by is that this is the most Marvel-ass, ...

#ItWasJustanAccident - Serendipitous bit of timing to see this the day Dick Cheney died. Great film about justice, revenge, morality, the efficacy of tactics in fighting oppression, and how responsible individuals are for systemic evils.

del Toro's #Frankenstein - Wish it was shot on film versus digital, but an interesting take where Victor is an avatar for everything wrong with MANkind in 2025 (sort of a proto-incel) and argues, much like "Superman", that kindness is the real punk rock.

A ★★★½ review of Frankenstein (2025)

#Bugonia - One of the few English-language remakes I think improves upon the original, but it still inherits some of the problems I had with "Save the Green Planet!" Very good, but my least fav of Lanthimos's Emma Stone movies.

A ★★★½ review of Bugonia (2025)
Two months ago I watched "Save the Green Planet!" for the first time, and I found it to be a very good movie with muddled messaging. With "Bugonia", I was hoping Yorgos Lanthimos and screenwriter Will...

#DreamEater - Sophomore stumble for The Horror Section as the film features poor dialogue and even worse performances, alongside several formal issues (non-diegetic music? mystery B-roll?) that break the found footage style.

My review: letterboxd.com/leninhawk/fi...
A ★½ review of Dream Eater (2024)
A certain amount of suspension of disbelief is necessary for most found footage films because at some point it's hard to justify why the characters continue to film. At one in "Dream Eater", Alex (Ale...

#AHouseOfDynamite - I am BEGGING Kathryn Bigelow to move away from films about the military and intelligence community. The film is ultimately schlock with a coat of Oscar-bait paint on it. Weirdly outdone by an episode of "Paradise" on Hulu.

#ShelbyOaks - Feels like M. Night Shyamalan tried to make an Osgood Perkins version of "Hereditary", but it's the Shyamalan who wrote his shittier films like "The Visit" or "Old". Dialogue is 90% exposition, and there's a lack of emotion.

#TheHandThatRockstheCradle 2025 - Fun throwback to a type of film I miss that cut its own path while maintaining the basic concept of the original. Just wish it wasn't afraid to be trashier, sleazier, and more transgressive and offensive.

#BlackPhone2 - highly enjoyed, even if I sense the film fell victim to an unconscious and insidious need to capitulate to the modern US conservative zeitgeist. Love the Super 8 and character-driven focus. Wish body count higher and more Hawke.

A ★★★½ review of Black Phone 2 (2025)
