A young kid at the library is exclaiming, "I want to go to the water park! I want to go to the water park right now!"

It is, of course, November, and the weather is a relatively balmy 45°F.

Some Amish communities are using ebikes!

'Technology should not be an intrusion into the home, but rather serve the social purposes of the group.'

"It's a lot quicker to jump on your bike and go into town than it is to bring your horse into the barn, harness it to the buggy, and go"
Amish communities are using a controversial new kind of vehicle to travel long distances: 'It's a lot quicker'
Several churches have decided that the benefits outweigh the costs.

Jalopnik does a nice job explaining the technical and legal differences between ebikes and well... electric motorcycles. Read up and share with family who may be shopping around.
Do your research, make sure the power and top speed are limited to the class you desire, and buy one that will be fun, safe, and legal.

People really don't understand what an extraordinary energy revolution China is creating right now. They're installing 1GW of solar a DAY. It's not slowing down either. They just peaked their emissions and we could see them phase out coal by the end of the decade.
In 2024, China installed 1.5x as much new solar as the entire US installed base.

The end of dollar hegemony will transform U.S. debt from a fiscal drag into a high-yield fusion bomb.

For decades dollarization has generated structural demand for U.S. treasuries, depressing the interest rates the U.S. needs to offer to service its debt.
one thing that I think we really don't think about is if Trump fucks up America's macro privileges or role in the international system and Americans are forced to end up dealing with a economic system that doesn't allow for the same old fiscal fixes as before
god I remember the fandom Russian zoomers on Twitter during the start of the war who were either "what can I do, I can't be held responsible" or "wow it's so mean that the West sanctioned us from our favourite fandoms"

A reminder that CPB falsely claims it has statutory power almost unlimted by the 4th Amendment w/in 100 miles of any border. In fact the 100 mile zone refers just to vessels & vehicles it can board. Their access to private property for border patrols is limited to 25 miles, & dwellings are excluded.
