In the Netherlands our new house (built mid/late 70's) like all houses in our street had a large double glazed sliding door to the garden. So maybe somewhat common?

Managed to find a picture. I managed to run into the closed door once, though fortunately I bounced, didn't go through. Hurt though!

First (real) snow of the season here in Denmark, not seen snow as good as this in quite a few years. The doggo (not pictured) also enjoyed it with quite a bit of dashing through the snow.

A path through the woodland, presumably for maintenance as to my knowledge this woodland was replanted (like many in Denmark) and is also used for logging.

Rob’s theme for today’s #BirdOfTheDay is #GoodLight and bird capture. As always I need to use my archives (really need a longer lens) but at least some people get to see these old pictures. 😊 Here's a swan from 2015 with the 40D and cheap 75-300 lens.

A mute swan in a lake or pond, lit by a bright afternoon sun. Its head and neck isn't pure white but a little bit yellowed. Water droplets adorn its head and neck like little jewels if you zoom in close enough.

Oh, almost missed out on today's #BirdOfTheDay theme which is #BirdButts.

A group of six ducks is floating in a large pond all with their tails up in the air, their heads down in the water and thus not visible. Barely visible far away in the background are some more ducks.

Here's an Egyptian Goose from 2004 with the 300D; a Swan from 2015 with the 40D. Both with the first EF 75-300 lens.

Unfortunately the photo isn't tack-sharp, I probably moved ever so slightly while taking it as this was the first year I had a DSLR and the telelens used needs quite a bit of light.

A somewhat dirty not-so-white swan in a lake pruning its wing. Some cygnets float nearby, they are doing their own thing.

Too bad it's not a duck, could've scored with that yesterday.
40D with EF 70-200 2.8L IS USM, taken in 2009.
(Shared a similar one before, this is a different composition).

A heron is sitting on some black painted metal canal infrastructure somewhere in Amersfoort city centre. It is standing on a single leg, the other leg hidden, and the heron is facing right out of frame. In the background one can just about make out the wheels of a bicycle on the other side of the canal.

Coots I have! Here are some coots from the canal that was next to our office at the time. One I have shared before, but now a re-edit done.

Moorhens are *my* nemesis, never been able to capture these.

A coot parent and 3 young cootlings float on the water in a canal. Some greenery reflects in the ripples on the water.

Coot parents and their 3 young cootlings on their nest. One parent is sitting on the nest, the other is floating next to it. The chicks were probably just being fed, as they are looking at their parents.

Additional info: the nest is (not visible) located next to a quay, and they weren't very good nest builders as we've seen their nest float down the canal a few times over the years; likely due to changes in the water level in the canal.

A single young cootling floating in a calm canal with somewhat transparent water. The cootling is still covered in down, with gray on the body and yellow on the neck. The head is mostly red due to visible skin and a red bill. The cootling causes some light outward growing ripples on the water. The frame is somewhat lined with some twigs and branches around the cootling.

This one is an oldie from Oct 2004, Canon 300D with 18-55 kit lens at 55mm, 1/40s.

There was some chance of auroras tonight and brief clear skies. Got up and went out at 4 to see if I could capture something. Sadly no auroras that I or my camera could see, but here's a moonlit landscape for you.

A *really* old one from August 2007 I think is worth sharing, shot on my Nokia N70 at the time.

Hotel "Barceló Granada Congress" (what it's called nowadays, it was not back then) in Granada, Spain, August 2007. A somewhat abstract picture where windows in the building reflect a dark tinted but blue sky with tiny white puffy clouds. Sun lights up this side of the building, but the sun itself is not visible.

An old dilapidated blue painted window on an old farm building in Conksbury, near (Bakewell), Peak District. Several window panes are broken, some of the grilles are missing and those that remain have some of the blue paint peeled off. Some rough bits of wood behind the window somewhat cover the opening, but several gaps remain.

Early days of my photography in december 2004 with a Canon 300D with 18-55 kit lens during a photowalk in Rotterdam.

Pigeons startled and flying up in the air in a street somewhere in Rotterdam. The image is looking flat and more like a painting due to the use of an on-board camera flash.

The whitebalance is way off on as your hands are quite purple, that's not going to help you getting the colours right on video. Using Davinci Resolve I did a bit of skin tone correction; only so much I can do with this video though.

Jernhallen near Ebeltoft, Syddjurs ("South Djursland" in Denmark. We're overlooking the water Hjelm Dyb, which according to the internet was the inspiration for Tolkien's "Helm's Deep".

11th July 2025, Canon R6m2 + EF24-105 f/4L @ 24mm

View looking almost directly south from the top of the 49m tall protected hill Jernhatten ("Iron Helmet") overlooking the water of Hjelm Dyb ("Helms Deep") and the little island Hjelm. Whispy which clouds reach across a blue sky. Blue and green in the shallow water reveals that there are banks of kelp covering the sand and rocks in the water. The water ends at a rocky beach. Far down a couple of people are walking the beach.

Waiting for a bus at a shitty bus station in 2008.

From my archives, 2008. Black and white version. The canopy of the waiting area has horizontal lines going across the frame against a blown out sky. Pillars show letters for various bus bays, and digital clocks show a time of 14:44.

Another one from my archives from 2004. Canon 300D with 18-55 kit lens.

(Unfortunately I only have the recovered JPG previews for the photos I shot in Voorburg that day, not the original RAW files).

Looking up the stairs to the platform at the NS station at Voorburg in 2004. The Nederlandse Spoorwegen are the Dutch Railways. The walls are a bright green hue, the stairs are dark and barely lit, and the railings are a bright red. Sunlight is lighting the glass canopy which is arching over the stairs and our view. A blue sky with light clouds is visible in the background and through the glass canopy.
