NONCOMPLIANT is on her way! I am so grateful to @haymarketbooks.org for the opportunity to write this book. This is our generational family story of resistance to involuntary psychiatric treatment, set against a half century of efforts to 'bring back the asylum' in the United States.
Here's my latest for @mad-in-america.bsky.social on the closure of the WHO's Unit on Policy, Law, and Human Rights. With deep gratitude to the many activists, practitioners, and academics globally who shared their responses + determination to continue the work.

TFW the outline is as solid as it's going to be, and the new discoveries just keep coming, and a bunch of things will shift, but we're officially WRITING THIS BOOK. It's time to bring forth this generational story of mad love + resistance + rage at all cages. #NoncompliantTheBook #BookSky

Organizing against borders can seem utopic, but there are many concrete fights:

1 Mutual aid networks
2 Rapid Response actions
3 Stopping PIC construction & budget fights
4 Ending agreements w/ local enforcement
5 Non cooperation of public institutions (hospitals etc) w/ immigration

Great conversation with @shaneburley.bsky.social and @mskellymhayes.bsky.social.

"[M]ass antifascism, is about building a tactic of interference with as many people as possible, whether it is to block fascist attacks or deplatform fascist rallies or stop the advancement of their organizing."
I talked with my friend @shaneburley.bsky.social about Nick Fuentes' recent rant about putting women in gulags. How seriously should we take Fuentes, culturally and politically? And what does rhetoric like this reveal about the broader trajectory of the movement he’s trying to shape? We get into it.

In 1991 on a youth psych ward, one of the staff showed us the 1971 film Harold and Maude. Not to spoil it for those who haven’t seen, but such a screening probably would not fly in today’s locked teen units. It was so weirdly therapeutic at the time for this 15 yo suicidal goth kid. RIP, Bud Cort.
