People love to pretend like pastel QAnon and RFK and anti-vaxx moms are just a function of bored privilege and ignorance, but the reality is much more complex.

These anti-medical birth movements cross class and race lines and exploit very real gendered trauma from medical sexism related to birth.

The UK is totally unprepared for hot weather in the summer. And embarrassingly bad at cold weather in winter too. Famously, there are two (2) entire snow ploughs in Manchester (population 2 million)

Look, I see no risk in giving RFK and the Dept of War exclusive, sensitive intelligence on dangerous pathogens and emerging pandemics, that they won't share with the rest of the world. Nothing nefarious could come from this

If you want to see my friend Marley listen to a newly discovered Leonard Cohen recording from 1962, she’s on insta at estatesbymarlene. I think the tape will go to auction in the next couple of weeks

We waited to tackle the Leonard Cohen recording until after the estate sale. Today we listened to the tape for the first time. And it’s Leonard Cohen! Reading his poetry! In 1962. And it’s the only known recording. It’s incredible and I can’t quite believe it

In 1962, Leonard Cohen did a poetry reading at Le Hibou. Last month, we found a tape of this reading made by Harvey Glatt, the owner of Le Hibou, in his estate. It’s the only known recording

In 2021, a lost recording of Joni Mitchell at Le Hibou, made by Jimi Hendrix on March 19th 1968, resurfaced and was made into an album – Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol 2: The Reprise Years (1968-197). Joni Mitchell was reportedly delighted because she thought her Le Hibou recordings were lost forever

In 1961, the Canada Council paid $700 to sponsor a poetry series at Le Hibou, Harvey’s music venue. The first poet was Irving Layton in January 1962.The Irving Layton recordings are in the National Library and Archives

Harvey was at the centre of the libertine, 1960s music scene in Canada. Here’s an account of one raucous night with Harvey, Joni Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix jonimitchell.com/library/prin...

(Thread brought to you by two years of working with the world's largest network of organizations on men and masculinities, and some incredible, thoughtful men thinking very deeply about accountability and patriarchal masculinities)
