Epidemiologist: Climate-Sensitive Infectious Disease Surveillance; here for #rstats #dataviz #gis updates/tips, esp. #publichealth data science
I learn something new every time with @ivelasq3.bsky.social , or finally understand something that has eluded me. In this case, #Quarto + knitr::knit_child() + params. I can’t find the recording to follow the demos but the slides alone will get you there. Thanks for sharing! #rstats
I had a great time presenting at the 2025 MAPOR Fall Webinar Series on "Automating Repetitive Reports with Quarto" and #RStats!

Recording is available on the MAPOR website, and here are the slides if you are interested! 🧡💗

@posit.co , please consider bundling #Quarto with future Posit Connect [Enterprise], instead of separate plug-in install. #rstats

Any recommended demos -video or blog- on using #positron Assistant to develop #rshiny app based on data loaded in #rstats environment and other files in my project folder (e.g., global.R)? I’ve found pieces from @posit.co, but still not sure how to put it all together. Thanks!

How bad will it be? Catastrophic.

Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come.

But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget.

Speak up now before it is too late.

This communication serves as a "be on the lookout" for clinicians in Southwestern U.S. & beyond, given already considerable (& historically underestimated) disease burden, which will likely increase further due to climate change (and perhaps already has). jamanetwork.com/jour...
Climate Change and Coccidioidomycosis
This JAMA Insights discusses the increased risk of coccidioidomycosis due to climate change and the importance of clinicians, patients, and health systems being educated about the disease to ensure accurate identification and optimal care for patients.

The abrupt terminations of more than 1,000 employees, including new Epidemic Intelligence Officers, across CDC are deeply disturbing. For more than 70 years, EIS officers have served on America’s front line as its disease detectives, ready at a moment’s notice to respond to emerging outbreaks.
