Look at it this way, in about 20 years we're near as dammit a republic
There'll be barely any working royals left (especially as William seems to be a lazy arse) and the extended collection of cousins is utterly inconsequential

Bank of England warns growing risk AI bubble could burst; gold hits new $4,000 an ounce record – business live
Soaring tech valuations could drop amid potentially ‘disappointing’ progress on AI, central bank says; gold has doubled in two years and extends 50% rally so far this year Peter Hargreaves, the billionaire co-founder of Hargreaves Lansdown, is retiring from the UK’s largest personal investment site, seven months after its £5.4bn acquisition by private equity firms. Hargreaves, 79, who set up the business in 1981 in the back bedroom of his house in Clifton with Stephen Lansdown, is handing his board position to his son Robert and said this “marks a proud new chapter in the family legacy”. His firm pioneered “DIY” investments, allowing people to invest directly in shares via its website without costly financial advisers. The Bristol-based company said he had rejoined the board earlier this year to “provide continuity and support through a period of change” following its takeover by a private equity consortium of Jersey-based buyout giant CVC Capital Partners, Sweden’s Nordic Capital and the Abu Dhabi wealth fund, which completed in March. Hargreaves Lansdown is a company I have loved ever since its formation in 1981 and after the takeover, I felt it was important that I had close contact with the business. I have been greatly impressed by the strength and direction of the team now leading the business and I am confident it is now well-placed for future success. Continue reading...

It's in an actual warzone, and this supermarket still has more and better fresh produce than an equivalent store in the UK

Thanks for Brexit you flag shagging dicksplashes
🤯 Supermarkets in Odesa also went under water: tomorrow the city will also have heavy rainfall…

Great idea for a movie: Weekend at Charlie's

Visiting US president has a fatal stroke and the risk family has to convince the press and US Secret Service that he's still alive until they can get him back to Air Force One

While some may have slept uncomfortably about that whole Elon Musk thing, I'm relying on movies to give me the security that even now British Secret Service agents are shagging their way around the globe and fighting self driving taxis to bring him to justice

I'm not sure many Phoenix readers will recognise @neillcameron.bsky.social 's homage in this week's issue.
But this old soul chuckled loudly enough that I them had to spend a while explaining it

One for @hypocaust.bsky.social , have a men's and women's squad from the same team (county, national, whatever) ever scored exactly the same on the same day before?

It's hot over here in south east UK. As a male office drone I find myself envious of female colleagues who can wear floaty summer dresses that look both professional and flattering. What's the male equivalent @dieworkwear.bsky.social ?
a cartoon character from the movie frozen says that 's hot i 'm melting
Alt: The sentient snowman from the movie frozen says "that 's hot I'm melting" because he's standing in front of an open fire, annoying dipshit that he is

The strange thing about this story is that it focuses on the foxes being pests. But not on the fact that they're very possibly eating the rats that infest the building www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

At least half of the Middlesex team sound like they've escaped from the pages of PG Wodehouse
Finty Trussler (137) & Artemis Downer (108).

This is the second time Middlesex women have had two centurions in the same List A match.

The first instance was Ros Heggs (124) & Caz Nolder (120) against Sussex at Queens' College, Cambridge during the 1989 Area Championship.

Watched Andor, then started watching Rogue One

The way they tie together even in the first few minutes is brilliant. The urgency with which Cassian is asking about Galen Erso makes so much more sense

It's hard to remember a time when the "special relationship" hasn't been abusive
Lots of praise for Starmer and UK negotiators from Trump.

“Special Relationship” klaxon.

UK and US working more closely together from now on.

Although Andor is possibly the best run of Star Wars stuff ever, I think it missed the opportunity to feature a key member of the Ghorman resistance, his many mistresses, corrupt Imperial officers, and two downed X-wing pilots
