The uncomfortable reality is that it is 100x harder to become a solid software engineer than to become hands-on with these tools

A solid dev starts to use these tools and 2 weeks later they know what needs to be known

Someone using these tools is not necessarily a solid dev tho…

Extremely educational thread that shows the Achilles Heel of many vibe-coding apps (and how customers churn).

A founder got super excited and was on track to spend ~$100K/yr with the tool ($8,000/mo)

And then… BOOM

Agent deleted prod DB (!!). Gives up!

Churned - for good?

Anvil was quite successful inside and outside of Square, but now it's time for the next big improvement. Metro is 95% of what I pitched as Dagger 3 within Square. I'm excited.
Metro wouldn’t be where it is without the road that Anvil paved before it. I’ve really enjoyed working with Joel and Jacob on several Metro features already, with @ralf-wondratschek.com in its early design phase, and really looking forward continuing to work with all of them.

Future’s bright 🚇
Anvil is approaching the icebox, long live Metro.

A dev I talked to said his favorite tool for development recently is called:

(I was expecting some AI IDE)

(Drumroll… it wasn’t)

Tuple!

It’s a lair programming tool that allows “taking over” the other person’s screen/IDE. Apparently his whole team uses it daily & love it

What mid-size and larger tech companies are *still* full-remote?

Lots of ones with 100+ devs went back to hybrid. Which ones remain?

Ones I know of:
- Shopify
- Airbnb
- Coinbase
- GitLab
- Mozilla
- Grafana
- DuckDuckGo

Which other ones?
