I go to a Newman center that is a heavy mix of college students and resident parishioners, and I really enjoy the variety.

To be faaaaaaair, part of why I dress up for Mass is because I don't have anywhere else to wear my nice clothes. If a guy wants to dress dandy to meet Jesus, that's fine with me. (Judging other people because they are dressed more casually obviously negates the whole point.)

Our deacon had the pinkest dalmatic I've ever seen. Positively salmon.

Ooo I'm so excited for the newsletter! Not a movie, but have you watched Derry Girls?

I sincerely hope we get an eLearning day on Friday. This week has felt like the longest in existence and it's only Wednesday 🫠

Lol sorry 🫥. So, what's up with this cloud? (Photo taken in Btown around 11:55 am, facing north.)

I like Rudy (1993) but that's almost entirely due to Sean Astin's charm.

I worked as a poll worker in 2024 and it legitimately destroyed what little faith I had left in the electorate. People are desperately ignorant about how voting works, what was on the ballot, and who they were voting for.

The median house price here is 300k 🤷🏻‍♀️. I'm not saying it's sunshine and rainbows out there, but I am saying that pretending 100k/year is poverty makes a bad joke of what real poverty is. (And since I'm prob the kind of person Amy is poking fun at, I'll bow out of the thread.)

HCOL areas generally have higher wages. (For example, the min wage in IN is still $7.25.)

I get that. I guess I'm farther on the pinecone yeller's side here. I'm an RN with over 10 years of experience, and I make like $33/hr, because I live in Indiana. New grads in CA can easily make $60/hr or more. Experienced nurses in MN can make $70/hr because they have strong unions.

COL blah blah blah, it's still well above the median US income. A lot of people seem to expect a job right out of college that pays at the top of the pay scale.

Sorry this isn't helpful, but my city mails out a calendar every year with local events and school district stuff listed. That's what I always use. Before that, I liked to get calendars with works from my favorite artists (usually Klimt.)
