A pixel art piece depicting Mario in a forest level, complete with some platforms, breakable floating blocks, a pipe and a Goomba. This pixel art piece was done in a 16:9 aspect ratio of 256 x 144 with each tile being 8 x 8 pixels in size. I was specifically trying to harness the look of a Game Boy Color game rather than something from the NES, given that the GBC color palette offers a lot more freedom than what the NES has to offer honestly This illustration was done entirely in Krita, no AI tools were used at all when making this

So I got bored today and wanted to see how a hypothetical Game Boy Color port of Comix Zone would look like. I tried to stick with 3 colors max for a lot of the sprites and tilesets, since a lot of GBC sprites only had 3 colors max. As for Sketch Turner (left), you can see he has 6 colors, but I imagine the additional colors would be part of a separate sprite layered on top, kinda like how Mega Man's sprite in the NES games did that (His face is a separate sprite, giving the illusion that his whole sprite has more than 3 colors). And also, SEGA games on the Game Boy Color isn't out of the ordinary, since games based on Sakura Wars were released on that system, even back when SEGA was still making consoles
