How long have they been living together? How long together?

This sounds like a mask drop situation.

Today it’s “you can’t read these books bc reasons”

Tomorrow it’s “you can’t work/go to school/ have that career/have these friends”

Bc reasons.

You aren’t compatible and the why is unimportant.

Honestly if we funded silliness instead of STEM we’d all be better for it. Get those kids into pratfalls and goofs.

Things like this are also helpful - vets are often expensive & most of us can’t afford to take our cats for every (little) problem. But I wanted to know how to differentiate as best I could what demanded a vet visit versus what I could manage if I understood her problem well.

This means we have to learn to see it when it's unsaid. It takes practice.

Don't feel bad about the dog video. Someone manipulated you. Shame on THEM, but learn from it for next time.

And I'll go touch snow if you will.

Somebody who's up front about their motivations being like "this is my background and my point of view, and this is what I, as the sort of person I am, advise" is a thing we're seeing less and less of and that's unfortunate. The media has been trained to hide bias but they still have it.

My entire generation is going to cut apart can rings as our last act on this earth. It's 2075, senility has set in but dammit if can rings exist we'll remember not to strangle shorebirds.

That's the result of propaganda and it's fine.

Question is: what is being asked of me and am I ok with it?

Which brings me to propaganda in general. Which sounds like a nasty word, but it isn't, always. Propaganda is information provided with the intent to change belief or behavior. Which still sounds pretty scary but that includes Smokey the bear telling you not to start forest fires.

Does it matter?

Not directly, in this case. Probably not. But it's training you to see five lights.

The problem is lying about the framing. A work of fiction with a dog shelter that worked this way would have been fine. Telling you it's real isn't benign.

In the case of ai, it's not that good yet and even if someone's cleaned it up, they miss things. Think about what you know. Look at the background. Are there chairs floating or that have three legs? Do the windows on a building match? Do you have subject area knowledge- does that car even exist?

If you'te stretched too thin to pay attention, you're vulnerable. If someone slides something subtle into your awareness, you won't notice.

Does it matter? It might not, in the short term, but gosh darn it you want to be able to stay in a state of mind to know when you are being lied to.

One of my best pieces of advice is counter intuitive but if you're scrolling tiredly on your phone at the end of the day, maybe don't?

It's not really the break your mind needs at that point. Lately i've been making myself actually go to bed when I'm too tired to read. It's been helping.
