To those who say that I’m out of touch with the views of my district I say this: I ran for this seat to represent those who don’t get a voice. Who don’t have traditional access to power. You probably won’t hear their voices at a neighborhood association, but they still exist and I am their councilor

My heart breaks that I could never afford to live in my childhood home despite making more than my parents ever did in their working lives.

Why won’t people show up like this to fight for affordability for ALL Portlanders???

I miss our cheap thrift stores, neighborhood mom n pop restaurants and bakeries, lack of traffic, and somewhat affordable rent.

My elementary school was closed despite being the highest performing because it wasn’t able to warehouse enough student’s per dollar.

For those of you who are NEW to Portland. Edward’s was located in D3 off Hawthorne Blvd, and I played in the Sewallcrest playground that had tents in it. In the 90’s and 00’s.

Homelessness increased as the gentrification of Portland increased that, subsequently, ballooned the cost of living.

But, Rebekah, people feel safer knowing that Rapid Response is there to take people‘s medications, birth certificates, loved one’s cremains, tent shelter, and clothing.

Who else is going to stick up for the old white men of Portland?
