Yes! Seattle used to be all suburbs and now the city itself is so much more residential. Other cities are growing at comparable rates, but they're sprawling. Seattle is growing denser and more urban. The light rail has been transformative too.

Pittsburgh and Philly are great picks. Hoboken is barely different than it was 15 years ago. It's also tiny, not in the same league.

A 33% increase to $4 for a subway ride seems expensive, but #njtransit is $4.10 for a similar trip to PABT. I don't hate it but $4 for a trip from JSQ to Newport is brutal. They should raise the tunnel tolls by 33% too.

No, they lie about that. Service is terrible across the entire system. They're not doing work across the entire system every midday and night. If service were bad b/c of the work, the bad service would be localized to where they're doing the work, like any other transit system.

This isn't entirely true. Republicans do care about deficits, in that they *want* deficits. Without deficits, it's harder to justify their spending cuts.

Here in NJ we're working to not have our new train line project cancelled mid-build. How we allocate our shared resources and construct our shared spaces is inherently political and always has been.
