Commissioned a friend (Justin) to illustrate the album cover of Geese's newest record with my fursona on it... Goes so fucking hard...

Man, really wanted to love this one.

For a film about queer bond, it's filled with gorgeous aspects that are worth looking & listening, but the plot goes into turns that don't amplify its emotional resonance.

My review of Petersen Vargas' film, Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, is up on 24Frames!

Has been a while since I've wrote a film review huh?

Here, I talk about The Peasants, and how its visual spectacle amplifies the vivid and gripping drama on display. Quite the remarkable piece of film.

Read my review of DK and Hugh Welchmann's film, 'The Peasants', up on the 24 Frames website!

The debut self-titled record from Addison Rae is an interesting but a lackluster listen. So much atmosphere is being put in, but the rest of the project just don't make it sound special.

For my first review on this blog, I talked about Hot Chip's entire discography, & the hits that stand the test of time. Some are nice, some are meh, but most of them are really fun!

My review of @hotchipofficial.bsky.social 'best of' album, 'Joy In Repetition', is up on @northern-trans.bsky.social!

Yeah, this one hits. A lean slice of post-break up melodrama that Sombr just sells impressively well, with undeniably strong melodies and production to carry it all through.

My review of Sombr's debut album, 'I Barely Know Her', is up now on my personal review blog!

Took a while to grow on me, but yeah, absolutely delightful! A lot more pensive & sprawling, but Nourished By Time just manages to let his passion shine in so many ways. An AOTY contender!

My review of Nourished By Time's recent album, 'The Passionate Ones', is linked down below!

In the new edition of SOUNDS OF THE SEA, I focused on Singaporean musician Jared Lim. Looking through his production work across local & international acts, and interviewing him about his newest, shimmering album under his solo project, Jorud.

My write-up + interview of @jaredlim is up now on TFL!

An amplification and then some.

After a strong debut in 2022, Model/Actriz manages to up the ante by adding more nuance and dynamics to their sound and writing, resulting in a spectacular album to boot.

You know what, yeah, it's surprisingly pretty good!

After putting out frustratingly bloated projects, Alessia Cara manages to find refinement across the board on this newest album. Clearly her most assured and lively to date.

This one is interesting.

Going for a sincere twee direction with some curiosity on playful phonetics, leading to some conflicting highs and lows.

I'll admit, I'm a lot less enamored with this album than I would like to be.

A straightforward, yet impressively structured and composed pop punk album. It's worth a shot.

Adoring that early touches of shoegaze and dream pop, @Modottimusic takes those elements to invoke a brand of heaviness and sweetness into their debut record, 'Opaque'. Carrying the past into the present, celebrating it even more.

His most intense and scorching album to date, Parannoul manages to pull out his best work to date with 'Sky Hundred'. Continuously dynamic, powerful, and devastating all at once, he finally broke through with immensity that he could only carry.

Her best album to date.

Going back to pure electropop, Charli XCX brings not just some of her sharpest production and compositions to date, but also her most nuanced writing to date. Overall her best project thus far.

Fury can be hopeful too.

4 years after their 2nd album, Infant Island proceeds to put out a relentlessly spirited screamo album where the blends of heavy sonic passages amplify the optimistic rage even further.

Devastating at every turn.

Picking up on their debut, Frail Body expands the compositions and writing where the Jack Shirley assist allows the complicated grief to render a persistently phenomenal album.

A tough sit with a lot of heart.

Continuing from his last album, Willi Carlisle picks up his most refined set of songs to date as he tells the tales of pained human relationships, with writing that captures empathy within every angle.

Majestic in every way.

Moving away from the clouds and into the ground, Lightning Bug branches their dream pop sound into immediate territory, with more detail on writing and structure melody to deliver one of the best of 2024.

Sure is a pivot.

Transitioning from Disco to Psychedelic Pop should be a win for Dua Lipa, however, the lopsided melodies do not translate when the production and writing do hit their strides.

Speaking of wishing that I was more impressed.

While explosive in the composition and production, Nia Archives' slips in terms of the melodic and vocal side of the album, making it less impressive than it should be.
