There was also the Planning & Infrastructure bill with extra anti-nature clauses snuck in at the last minute and the Heathrow expansion that involves moving the M25

I dunno, if you don't like a thing you don't tend to minimise people doing that thing and run interference for it.

Across the developed world (neo)liberalism has lead us to this circus of horrors and its biggest proponents still insist they are completely correct and the only reason you'd disagree with them is due to stupidity, mental illness or you're a foreign agent.

They deserve only contempt.

I suppose this all comes back to the core liberal belief in the Just World Fallacy.

That because they're ok the system is mostly just and so you just need sensible people in charge of the status quo for everything to drastically improve.

Sensible Centrists' justification for more taxation of ~middle earners~ is that it will shift resources from consumption to infrastructure building.

With a (deliberately?) blithe assumption the infrastructure built won't just be more AI data centres.

The blocker claimed the sugar tax is no big deal.

So I asked why they were wasting their time defending it if so.

So they called me a twat and announced they'd muted me.

Sensible Centrism!

The short answer is no they aren't because they very strongly believe in the Just World Fallacy.

They're doing ok and *know* they deserve to be doing ok so if an individual or group is suffering clearly they deserve to suffer.

So why are you sallying out to defend it if it's no big deal?

Seriously, how does one obey the norms and fix things when the judiciary and the state broadcaster are openly bigoted?

Any criticism of the BBC will have it crowing about how they're neutral because both sides criticise them. The Judiciary will "fiercely defend their independence."
