Feelings of financial insecurity are costing Labour support. And, if this budget doesn’t help people feel less worried about finances, Labour will lose more votes on its handling of the national economy AND on immigration too. Financial insecurity is *compounding* losses on other issues/evaluations.

Before starting my academic career, I had this romanticized idea of academics: they loved reading books, many books, and not only the academic ones. While understand the pressure to produce articles, it still makes me sad that this is not the real picture. Many academics actually never read books!
