The presenter at this training suggested folks stop in at local businesses with “Immigrants Welcome” signs & offer this (or similar) more useful & forceful alternative. Something small you can do when you have a bit of time. I am.

Was just reading some David Graeber last night.
Rather, again, it was the camp, the community. But, still, there's some continuity here: We're going to create forms of organization which not only show that organizations we're contesting are bad, which everybody knows, but that they're unnecessary. We're going to put an alternative directly in their face as the most potent way of destroying their legitimacy and authority. The carnival made sense for the first round, but the most potent thing we could possibly create as a symbol against Wall Street specifically was a community of people who care about one another. And there's nothing more radical than performing exemplary love in front of this symbol of the impossibility of a society based on that.

I think that we should add a longer lunch so students can have more time to chill because it is not enough for students like me, because I like to spend my time with friends like everyone likes to do. So we should make it like 2-3 hours.

I forgot to share the kid's proposal to add more slides.
To improve the movement from floor to floor, I'd like to add 5 spiral slides to the school, 2 slides to get from the C pod to A pod, 2 slides to get from D pod to B pod, and 1 slide to get from upper gym to gym level. My reasoning behind this is to add a fun way to get from floor to floor, and an additional way so that the stairs aren't so crowded, preventing tardies, if 2 classes on different floors.

I am reading 14-year-old students' school redesign suggestions. Many are about food & bathrooms. Also pleas for an art gallery, a rage room, comfy chairs, more color & plants, more electives (especially cooking classes!), more mental health support, more free time. Here's a sample.
I think we should add a mental health program for those struggling. It will be a safe space for students to share their thoughts and problems while also getting advice from other. Plus everything can be unknown. A mental health program located in the library, when people walk in there could be a table with pieces of paper. Then put the paper in the hat, and once everyone arrives, they will form a circle and talk about each paper they pull while still staying unknown. This relates to the mission... One feature that should be added to the campus is dorms. One way this feature supports the mission is that it will help homeless students worry less about where they will stay. This would help them focus more on school and be college and career ready. Better the food, the happier the stomach. When kids go home, 90% of the time they find themselves in the kitchen. When they don't find something good or enjoyable to munch on they are filled with disappointment and a wave of sadness washes over them. Although when they have something good, their stress goes away. Nowadays kids and adults use food to cope with stress and anxiety. People use food to distract themselves from work, homework, drama, and just to take a break. Food is a happy place for many. One thing I would add to the school would be a fishing room or a nature room for kids who love nature sounds or love fishing in general. This would help kids take their mind off the school things. Also it can students keep them outdoors.

My school has a food pantry, but we are also giving families WinCo cards so they buy what they want/need. (I raised some $ from friends & family this weekend so I could buy these on my way to school this morning.)

I want to be alive to the joys and the pain of the world. As such, I train my eyes, ears and spirit to what's good in the world. I think often about Will Durant's words: "Civilization is a stream with banks. The stream is sometimes filled with blood from people killing, stealing, shouting, and doing things historians usually record-while, on the banks, unnoticed, people build homes, make love, raise children, sing songs, write poetry, whittle statues. The story of civilization is the story of what happens on the banks."
