I lived in Germany for a while and their (generously wide) sidewalks are split down the middle - one side bikes and the other side peds. It’s also ingrained at a cultural level to not obstruct the bike lane. It was a great system; it’s unfortunate that we’re lucky to even have sidewalks at all here.

I always worry there’s some undocumented detour when that happens. I was at 11th & Grand going south, I watched my bus come south toward me then turn down a different street for a couple blocks, completely going around the stop where I was (nothing happening at the T-Mobile center). Almost comical.

It really sucks bringing friends from out of town for the Super Bowl parade or NFL draft and not being able to trust what ridekc publishes, if they publish anything at all

It’s been so bad. I live in Waldo but pretty much just drive to union station and stick to the streetcar now. bsky.app/profile/kyer...

1/2 RideKC really needs to stay on top of updating the Transit app to reflect their service bulletins. It's useless for planning anything. MMAX is utterly confusing with the construction changes in Waldo. The Transit app is just completely wrong and even the drivers are inconsistent.

A few more from the B&W series I did in downtown Kansas City:

This is the ASB railroad bridge. It’s so unique and I can’t help but gawk at its features (and picture the counterweights falling and crushing me) every time I walk under it.

I successfully submitted a PR to fix some wording in the vscode docs several years ago and I’m still riding that high

Makes sense. I appreciate the advice.

I’ll admit I was pleasantly surprised at the results when working through a complex problem with focused instructions. I think it’s too early to say if it will be a mainstay, but it certainly helped me through a motivation slump on this problem. I’ve seen enough to at least keep trialing.

This conversation inspired me to face my cynicism and give it a fair shot. I may be cynical but I try not to be stubborn. From what I did today, I definitely see that my cynicism is largely a result of people using these tools as crutches and burdening me with their bad results.
