Still, thanks for providing us Bluesky users with an update on the game!

I thought it was by Woodfrog, not FrogBull, unless that's an alternative username of the author's. Still, I can clearly tell the game underwent a redesign from when I last saw it as Demo A.

...and apparently a couple of originals. One of them is edutainment software, the other is Conan the Cimmerian, no relation to the NES game, developed by Synergistic Software.

Going on the SNES side of things... in mid-August 1992 they considered Astral Bout (which never left Japan), Havoc (ended up released as King Arthur's World), Prince of Persia, Super Valis, Kick Off 2 (wonder what game this is, as there's a Kick Off and Kick Off 3 that was released in Europe)...

Some of the music was originally meant for Patlabor. Check out this full quality recording of one of the songs: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9WF...

This game has got my curiosity for one specific reason... namely, the discrete audio. I'm thinking of MAME here, as this sounds like it's beaten MAME to the punch on that particular detail (MAME I think recycles Space Invaders samples?), even if it is prerecorded in some way.

When I look at its shape... it reminds me of a furby. Except no feet... and the face is quite different.

At least one or two of them came close to that, now that I think of it... though what you're talking about is probably on the next level of secrets.

...OK, that makes more sense in hindsight, given that it more closely matches what Terrific Audio Driver does with its effects to some degree.

The internal documentation states it doesn't do global volume (Vxx and Wxx), channel volume (Mxx and Nxx) and new note actions. And it converts volume envelopes to macros, though I see that as a more minor note.

That doesn't always work... one of the effects that Furnace doesn't do is retriggering with volume adjustments per note triggered (that being Qxy).

My involvement was with Space Rescue Squad, which has a demo that was released for the gamejam. Enjoy the others that were released!
