And now, after some rain improved the quality of our olives, it's time for Greek-style brine curing. One week in 6% saltwater, then into 12% brine for 3 months, with a change to fresh brine a few times if I want less bitter olives. Caps loose on bottles because of gases generated!

Rocky Horror Picture Show ran every Friday night at a SoCal cinema near me in the 70s and 80s. I would have hated being the janitor tasked with cleaning up that mess!

You had to experience it as a cultural phenomenon of the 1970s in a cinema filled with pot smoke and the audience throwing toast and rice and flicking their BICs. Dancing, singing. Many in costume. Loads of fun even if the film itself is stupid.

As a gout sufferer who used to cry from the hand pain of holding a treasured, physical book, I found audiobooks to be part of the solution to that pain. And a good, performative reading of James Joyce' Ulysses was the only way I finally "got" most of it as the author intended.
