Not all those who wander are lost. Climate variability and impacts by day, cities by evening, rock violin by night (sometimes all three at once).
This was my first huge frustration on the new Siemens Venture cars, at least the ones that I've ridden for Amtrak Midwest. At _best_, you just get a 'next stop' - but never any information about ETA, delays, etc. (even though Amtrak theoretically has that info)

Tbh if they just filmed the X-Wing Alliance (the incredible 90s dogfighting game that somehow became the last word on space dogfighting for a generation) story that would be great television

Correction, they had been awaiting certification since mid-2022

The 2tph is a hint of their pre-Covid service, where they ran 1tph each from Vienna West station and one through the S-Bahn tunnel and the inner city, which was very useful for intercity riders (though presumably did a number on S-Bahn scheduling). That latter service is unlikely to ever return

Since CRRC had no existing trains in Europe, the certification and testing process was particularly long (4 years? Not sure if reg skepticism or problems), but if these end up working out, CRRC may use these to get a foothold in the European market. €70 M for 4 6-car bilevels

Possibly controversial opinion: Model spread is unconnected to real uncertainty. It can both underpredict (response of ENSO), and overpredict (CMIP6 ECS). Actual uncertainty needs a much more careful assessment of both model structural variations alongside observational constraints & model bias.

They’re also about to run Central Europe (Europe’s? @jon.gruene.social.ap.brid.gy would know)‘s first Chinese-built intercity trains, 4 CRRC double-decker EMUs, set to finally be approved by regulators after a many-year odyssey of testing and regulatory delays.

Same experience with Novavax this year for the first time :/ Really glad it was widely available at CVS though, so that's an improvement!

He resigned as governor 4 years ago in the face of multiple scandals. He’s shown no contrition whatsoever. He gets a free pass every time a camera is in front of his face, and he’s a carpetbagger on top of it all.

Frankly the amount of time and energy saved by getting to board at Harlem or GCT over Penn would already truly revolutionize this trip (though that many hours on the old MNR pax cars… maybe one day MNR can buy less crappy ones for their diesel services, or better yet, bimodal MUs… )

The parallel blocks are also pretty far apart here, so it’s hard to detour

Yeah that sidewalk is absolutely nuts; made for like 1/4 the number of people who actually use it
