We're the only Baptist church I know that reads an Epiphany Proclamation. This is nosebleed high for us but we've adapted the language. It's a great way to start the year. 🕯️

This is an annoying problem with the RCL. ⚓ I want to beg them: Read the whole passage! Romans 1? Don’t skip those verses. Ephesians 5? Let it rip! Genesis 19, 1 Corinthians 14? Read them all and let us deal with it! We are not children.
Holy shit the lectionary tomorrow skips things in annoying ways.
The Old T lesson is Jeremiah 31.7-14. They stop just short of "Rachel weeping for her children" prophecy.
Then the Gs chosen is Matt 2.13-15, 19-23. The vv they skip is the Massacre of the Innocents with that verse of Jeremiah. 🤦♂️ ⚓

For the last 9 months or so I have been on a rotation of lay officiants at my former parish, which is going on year 4 with no rector. Their supply priest is sick so I just confirmed I will be officiating and preaching at their tiny 8am service this Sunday!

This is an annoying problem with the RCL. ⚓ I want to beg them: Read the whole passage! Romans 1? Don’t skip those verses. Ephesians 5? Let it rip! Genesis 19, 1 Corinthians 14? Read them all and let us deal with it! We are not children.
