Just a few moments contemplating the awesome beauty and mystery of our little corner of the universe are sufficient to unmask the foolish arrogance of anyone suggesting that humans will eventually take control of things.
That ain't gonna happen! 😇

Trump posted the bizarre image below yesterday - the very day Catholics celebrated the The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Messaging doesn't get much more unsubtle than that!
Viva Cristo Rey! ✝️

Plato: "The bad are never truly at one with one another or with themselves".
They understand each other perfectly.
That's why mutual friendship is totally out of the question.
At best, they can be partners in malice.

Plato: "That which is at variance & enmity with itself is not likely to be in union or harmony with any other thing".
Bad people are not, & can't be, in harmony with themselves!
Photos of despots appearing to be best pals bring this to mind! Each knows that the other's fake smile masks pure venom!

Cavanaugh's observation brings to mind how the Feast of Christ the King was celebrated during my early years in Paraguay. Dictator General Alfredo Stroessner resented this clear debunking of his ridiculous claims to absolute power.
Similar claims by today's wannabe dictators must be challenged! ✝️

It would have been heartening to see language along the lines of that employed by Pope Pius XI in the recent USCCB statement on immigration.
Pastoral teaching regarding 'Catholics in name only' might be addressed, especially, to 'Catholic' members/associates/agents of the Trump regime.

Patrick Kavanagh (from 'The Great Hunger' allpoetry.com/the-great-hu...):

"God is in the bits and pieces of Everyday".

= a profoundly Ignatian observation!

1961:
Writing in 'National Review', William F. Buckley (quoting Garry Wills) dismissed Pope John XXIII's encyclical 'Mater et magistra' with a sarcastic 'Mater sí, magistra no".

This was PRE-Vatican II, PRE-changes to liturgy, etc.
The agenda behind this kind of stuff was NEVER just theological!
