Just finished Pynchon’s Vineland. I had a great time with it, weaving in and out of the characters’ interactions and flashbacks - ninja nuns, TV-obsessed zombies, government repression, and more. If you updated some references, this could easily be a book about our current moment.

I went and saw GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES in the theater tonight. It’s been a long time since I last saw it, and it was the first time I’ve seen it in theaters. It remains a heartbreaking masterpiece, one of the very few truly anti-war films, and Ghibli’s high water mark.
