Looking for something a bit different to kick off #Noirvember tonight, so I'm going with Murete de un Ciclista (Death of a Cyclist), 1955. Bleak, stark, and steeped in Francoist paranoia. Something genuinely unique in the genre that gives it a really sinister edge. & I need to practice my Spanish.

#NoirvemberChallenge Day 1: Favorite #FilmNoir Opening Scene
D.O.A. (1949) - I love the sequence of footsteps along the hallway to LAPD’s homicide division. Followed by a great trip through 1940s San Francisco. #Noirista #FilmSky

Day two: favorite film noir character introduction

It’s hard to deny Orson Welles’ entrance as Harry Lime in THE THIRD MAN. When that light flicks on and that zither sting hits… movie magic of the simplest variety!

This seems fun!

Day one: favorite film noir opening scene

I’m going with DETOUR. It sets up everything to come so beautifully!

Second movie for the month! I updated my LB top four accordingly, which is an exceedingly rare occurrence. A genuinely perfect movie.

If we aren’t already LB friends, let’s change that! boxd.it/tlZt

There’s a place in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho that serves cubed ice cream.

Playing a little catch up with my #31DaysOfHorror watches by watching Romero’s THE CRAZIES for the first time in a while!

Oh yeah, I don't anticipate finishing anything from these this weekend hahaha
Here’s the reading outlook for this weekend in the kodyfrom5to7 household.
I rewatched it recently, and it’s a movie that gets better with multiple watches. So, so good.

Re-watching WINCHESTER '73. Goddamn, the ending gunfight is one of the greatest in movie history. A lot of action movies nowadays wish they could have something as cool as this movie's ending.
Just finished Pynchon’s Vineland. I had a great time with it, weaving in and out of the characters’ interactions and flashbacks - ninja nuns, TV-obsessed zombies, government repression, and more. If you updated some references, this could easily be a book about our current moment.
If you're in Utah and want to watch the Arsenal match this Sunday, the Utah Gooners would love to have ya!
Double feature going up on a Tuesday

Stopped by King's English in Salt Lake City today to special order a copy of Schattenfroh. I'm very excited for it to be here next week!

I also found out that Mark Z. Danielewski will be doing a signing of his new book, Tom's Crossing, on November 3rd! Very cool!
Thank you! It was phenomenal!
Steven Wilson in Denver tonight!
