So modern society definitely seems to be going great.

So based on this, I am wedged in between ttrpg creators and community, left-wing activist youth community, and queer creative workers, and neighbors with indie rock musicians and fans. Yeah, I'm pretty comfortable with that.

Cyanotype through some thrift store lace on a lamb's bone. I'm very excited to continue to play with this.

Had a delightfully weird little party with a friend, eating sushi and doing cyanotype prints on unusual materials. Real good way to spend a Friday night.

Went to craft night with mom and my sister this afternoon!

So despite being my least favorite Girl Scout cookie, the do-si-dos still get a B+ & the peanut butter sandwiches get a B. I like peanut butter but I need it to have something to go with it, and the oatmeal cookies just don't do enough to elevate it. Now crumbled on top of chocolate ice cream... A+

You can also tell in these cross sections that because the ABC is a slightly smaller cookie and has a bit more peanut butter, the ratio is definitely different between the two cookie types.

The cookies are crumbly in a good way, so cutting them in half was a little tricky but I got some decent cross sections! You can see there's a lot more structure and lightness to the lbb cookie, where the ABC cookie is firm all the way through.
February 2, 2026 at 12:36 AM
You can also see that the lbb peanut butter is a little smaller than the cookies, where the ABC is spread all the way to the edge. The ABC peanut butter that went up through the hole in the middle of the cookie is sticking up it stays with the rest of the peanut butter rather than breaking off.
February 2, 2026 at 12:34 AM
I pried the cookies open to take a look at the peanut butter! The peanut butter is a little thinner and almost drier in the lbb cookie. The ABCs have more peanut butter and it has a shiny bit of oil to it like peanut butter straight out of the jar does.
February 2, 2026 at 12:32 AM
And here's the side by side. The lbb cookies are a little bit bigger and more irregular around the edges. The ABCs are a perfect smooth round cookie and they almost look like a cracker. The peanut butter wells up through the hole in the middle on the ABCs but not the lbbs.
February 2, 2026 at 12:30 AM
As usual, the ABCs have just a few more calories and a little bit more of everything else to go with. The real important thing is that they have the same serving size, and you get three cookies instead of the usual two with these.
February 2, 2026 at 12:28 AM
These have slightly different descriptions! Lbb's are simply oatmeal sandwich cookies with peanut butter filling. ABC's are crisp and crunchy oatmeal cookies with creamy peanut butter filling. Just a little more descriptive.

Day seven of Girl Scout cookie science! We're still in peanut butter land with a sandwich cookie known as do-si-dos by LBB and peanut butter sandwich by ABC. These are my least favorite cookie, but that's like calling something the worst Prince album. It's all good.

In the end, I had to go to a special circumstance to get one to rank above the other. Because of that cookie ring, the Tagalongs freeze just a little bit better in my opinion. So LBB gets the A, and the ABC cookies get the A-.

I peeled back the chocolate and peanut butter from the top of the cookie so you can see how the cookies are shaped differently. A nibble of just the cookie tells me that the recipes are different enough to taste! Though I bet they're actually different because lbb wants that raised ring.
January 31, 2026 at 10:05 PM
Once we cut the cross section, the inside show the reason for all the differences. The lbb has a raised ring on the cookie, and the peanut butter only lives inside the ring. The ABC spreads the peanut butter pretty much across the whole top of the cookie.
January 31, 2026 at 10:03 PM
Here's the side-by-side, top and bottom. Now that they're out of the package you can see that the Abc cookie is a little flatter than the LBB, and the LBB has a pretty visible ring on the top. The lbb also has a little bit of a texture on the base, where the ABC is perfectly smooth.
January 31, 2026 at 10:02 PM
The cookies look almost identical on the front of the Box, but once again we can see they are pretty darn different formulations. 10 fewer calories for the abc, and a little less fat and a little more sugar. And almost three times as much iron, not that it's a lot.

Welcome back to day 6 of Girl Scout cookie science! I'm off my break and ready to go into a peanut butter place. We're going to compare what LBB calls Tagalongs and ABC calls peanut butter patties.

I'm doing side by side comparisons of the two Girl Scout cookie bakeries! All the details are in my pinned post but here are some images!
January 30, 2026 at 7:25 PM
All in all I'll eat both of them any day of the week. Honestly the best cookie would be the stripes of the lbb on the caramel of the abc, but since the caramel is a bigger piece of it ABC's going to Edge out this win by the thinnest of margins.
January 30, 2026 at 12:15 AM
I really think these cookie cross sections are fascinating. We're talking millimeters difference in the caramel and the cookie thickness, but it really affects the texture of the cookies!
