Psychologist from 🇮🇳. Enjoy learning about #psychology, #stats and #researchmethods. Teach stats to students recreationally. Depression survivor (it's a long story)

Arsenal & DC fan. (Depression unrelated)

Here to learn from smart people
my undergrad training in stats told me (at least covertly) that no statistical difference is the same as no effect or difference. That’s not accurate!

They are two different claims & need to be analysed differently. Learned new stuff thanks to @mzloteanu.bsky.social on equivalence Testing

Attending this lecture by @steamtraen.eu about scientific error. Absolutely fascinating stuff. Felt like I found a community committed to truth that I didn't know I had.

You can't intellectualize the entire universe, man. Can you "measure" time? Could one "quantify" intelligence, or "weigh" a human heart? You’re gonna “test” my blood alcohol level?? Give me back my gun, officer, and be on your way.

There are way too many confusing interpretations for a confidence interval out there. Can any of my ~50 followers help me understand how they are to be interpreted?

I'm told the "x% probability that parameter is between [L] and [U]" is not accurate. What is it then?

Pica in medicine refers to the compulsive eating of non edible substances.

It is classified as an eating disorder.

The word pica originates from Latin referring to the magpie which eats indiscriminately.

Pica was described by Hippocrates as “corruption of the blood”

Is this the place of choice for academics after X? Or is it Mastodon? Or are they just logging off completely?
