Watching TV & as the ads go by realize w/ my non-bright teeth, untreated patches of eczema, occasional bouts of deep sadness, excess weight, & occasional extended intervals of physical discomfort from pain to digestive disruption: should be taking many, many more medications than I am. Oh well!

Around 9:30 pm the aurora was strengthening, but low in the north, and mostly needing a phone camera to see beyond a vague glow to the eye alone.

On the east edge of Granville, OH we have hints of aurora behind the clouds… but more are coming from the west, darn it.

Great turnout for our volunteer orientation evening for the Emergency Warming Center effort in Licking County, again hosted this winter at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on W. Main Street in Newark. Many thanks to all the task force members who helped make this work!

The threshold for activation is when overnight lows are anticipated to be 10 degrees or lower; at that standard, we were open 18 nights last winter. Shifts run from opening and suppertime to breakfast, with high need for midnight shift volunteers!

For those asking: my Remnants walking tour on Saturday, Nov. 1, is rain or shine! We gather at the bronze map in front of the Great Circle Museum at 9 am, will walk about 3.5 miles and take around 3 hours, back at noon or just after. If there's lightning or high wind, we cancel.
