(read as like everything outside of popular comp. multiplayer games, despite how important those are)

+ VMs are unfortunately not the way out with anti-cheat. as much hardening as you try, it's a risk that blows up eventually more often than not. Valve isn't gonna risk getting users banned :/

the Deck isn't even that great of a target for certain competitive multiplayer games. it's viable, sure, but i think something like the new Steam Machine has a much better opportunity to force its way in. i know it maybe feels chicken & egg but there's enough of a library without to get by.

i think the only way out is one that will just have to come naturally. if they could get the big publishers/games to budge already, i think they would've. what's going to have to happen is that they actually grow a more significant market share to force support for sake of numbers.

it's so funny to me how hit or miss it is too. Getting rewarded for Clair Obscur and Borderlands 3 that I'm playing from Steam for playing "Game Pass games" but then other games it just covers its eyes and pretends it does not see
