Infectious disease epidemiologist, specializing in vaccines. A personal account where I yell into the void. Excessive gif user. she/her 🏳️‍🌈
Off for a bit on a meeting with other immunization managers, also enjoying the rest of my ramen without yelling at ACIP.

Came back to see Dr. Meissner wonder how the hell we got to discussing how all vaccines are bad.

Alright I'm going to use Siri's ending summary to walk away and get lunch, I'm getting hangry.
December 5, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Yep
December 5, 2025 at 6:36 PM
"You have to make vaccines not political"
Yes, agree
"The way you do that is get rid of mandates"

Siri now making a claim that getting measles will save you from cardiovascular disease.

Siri claims that diphtheria immunity wanes and that's why we need to get a booster THAT'S TETANUS, YOU IDIOT
December 5, 2025 at 6:27 PM
Boy this man hates observational epidemiology.
December 5, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Siri says oh look, the vaccine prevents disease not infection of B. pertussis.

PERTUSSIS DISEASE IS FROM THE TOXIN. THE VACCINE HELPS WITH THE DISEASE.
December 5, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Now complaining that acellular pertussis vaccines are not great, which is true, but making vaccines is hard and you already talked about why DTP is bad which is why DTaP was created.
December 5, 2025 at 6:21 PM
Of course you also have vaccine derived polio from OPV which is its own problem which is why the shift to IPV occurred.
December 5, 2025 at 6:19 PM
I was reading my immunology textbook again and missed the whole "polio vaccine doesn't stop polio transmission" which is why IPV is used in countries where there isn't a lot of transmission and OPV was used where there was transmission because OPV was better.

(Having just read through so many VAERS reports, it's clearly not hard to submit, based on the quality of the data within)
December 5, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Siri notes that VAERS reports are arduous to report and he finds it amazing that any doctor can finish the report.

It's....not that hard?
December 5, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Because these events were reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not possible to reliably estimate their frequency or to establish a causal relationship to vaccine exposure.
December 5, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Siri claims that section 6.2 of a product insert, which goes over adverse events, should only include causal events.

However, here's what it actually says:
December 5, 2025 at 6:08 PM
I'm not sure how they are pointing to "there are no studies", I'm almost certain there are studies from Denmark, the ACIP's favorite country.
December 5, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Oh boy let's hear about how we haven't proven that vaccines don't cause autism.

VACCINES DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM
December 5, 2025 at 6:00 PM
CAUSALITY IS HARD TO PROVE!!!!

I dare this man to take an MPH level course on study design.
December 5, 2025 at 5:52 PM
Ah the National Vaccine Childhood Injury Act of 1986, how dare we not be able to sue pharmaceutical companies.

Because it's expensive to fight lawsuits, and everyone would stop making vaccines on frivolous claims.
December 5, 2025 at 5:50 PM
He then cites dengue as proof that a good trial finds harm, but the interaction of dengue vaccine on someone that has never had dengue is complex and weird and REALLY NEAT from an immunological perspective and NOT AT ALL RELEVANT to the discussion of the schedule as a whole.
December 5, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Now presenting on a paper that looked at DTP vaccination in Africa (and the title has "a natural experiment" in the title which is full of yuck) and I need to read the paper in full before judging, I don't trust this lawyer's interpretation of epidemiology.
December 5, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Now making a claim that something like 10% of infants need to be hospitalized due to "serious adverse events" but I don't think that's the usual definition for most of these trials, serious would be those items plus any grade 3 reaction.
