Tbh I think they're all a bit underwritten as characters. TH (short) and Colman are sufficiently good actors to create a whole lot of hinterland despite the writing shortfall, and TH (tall) gets most of the screen time, so ED and Laurie's characters do feel a bit thinner in contrast
