It infuriates me that so much of the web created by big tech companies (including my own) is really just piles of wildly over-complicated JavaScript/TS like this Google developer docs page, which should just be a simple HTML page:
developers.google.com/identity/pro...
developers.google.com/identity/pro...

I like being on my keyboard in the early hours of the morning. It’s one of my favorite parts of winter in the northern hemisphere— it’s dark longer, which is great for my focus.
But dev tools like this AWS login with the bright white background just kill the vibe

Thanks for the support so far on DevHunt!
I know these launch platforms can be gimmicky, but it is a good way to document what the Kixx web development framework hopes to be and get a sense of how strong the need is.

An open source development platform should come up just short of being a religion.
Let’s call it a movement.
If it’s too close to a religion then people make too much of it as sacred.
If it’s not close enough to a religion then it brings no opinions and no value

People who look for shortcuts will always look for shortcuts. AI (or any other trend) never changes that.
It's discouraging to see them win in the short term, but we all know that "success" is fleeting.

In a large corporation, most people don't have other options, so will behave in unpredictable ways to keep or grow their position in the company.
If you're willing to play that game, then you had better commit to it.
If not, then you'd better create more optionality for yourself.

Foundational/general LLMs consume stolen data and bleed the planet of natural resources.
Real engineers build solutions.
An LLM built and trained for a single programming language using a single framework all be done on a single commodity laptop.

I find that I can make much better/faster design decisions about the code I'm writing when I have some guiding principles.
These are my principles for the Kixx web development framework:
1. Optimize for productivity.
2. Have opinions
3. Software is a craft done by humans.
4. Remove complexity.

Best advice for new developers?
Trust your gut and go for it, even when the "experts" tell you that you're doing it wrong.
Maybe it will turn out wrong, but you'll learn and get better at a faster rate than everyone else who is learning to code in conventional ways.

Why do so many web developers over index toward building fat client JS/TS applications?
If you start small, you can stay small. Build tooling like Vite is invented to solve problems that 95% of web applications shouldn't have.

I like to do things that cause a little (good) pain:
- Park far from my destination and walk
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator
- Write vanilla (ES5) JavaScript on circa 2015 embedded devices

JavaScript is a really, really nice language in 2025 ...
when you strip away all the web framework garbage, TypeScript, tooling, build processes, etc
Writing code the way we did in 2008 with the JavaScript of 2025 is really amazing!

Working hard doesn't cause burnout, but losing hope does. Here's how to tell when to persist through difficulty vs. time to pivot.
